AFTERNOON TEA WITH ALWYN

Afternoon Tea with Alwyn Mellor

On Sunday 14 June the Rossendale Ladies Choir were delighted to have afternoon tea with their patron, Alwyn Mellor at Sykeside House.  After a lovely selection of refreshments, Alwyn updated us on her work and travels over the past year which was very informative and entertaining.  She then invited the choir to ask any questions and give her our update on working with our new musical director.  A vote of thanks was given to Alwyn at the end.  The choir is very grateful that Alwyn can spare the time from her busy schedule to be such a truly rewarding patron and take such an interest in our work, as we do in hers.  We are all looking forward to the time that we can sing with her again.

What a lovely afternoon.

VISIT FROM ALWYN MELLOR

Last night was our first rehearsal back after the Summer Break. We were honoured to be joined by the Choir Patron, Alwyn Mellor of the Welsh National Opera. It was a lovely get-together where , after a short normal rehearsal we had a tea party which allowed the choir to chat informally to Alwyn, and our newer members to meet her for the first time.

Fabulous cakes had been baked by choir members for the occasion, and it was a lovely warm start to our next season. Alwyn’s  mum came along too, which was nice. It is always wonderful to see Alwyn, who is very supportive of the choir and what we do.
